The story of Mick Fabar and his path breaking innovations in the constructing industry started like any other entrepreneurial venture in the building industry. In 2001, he founded Mick Fabar Constructions in his hometown Orange, NSW. Within a very short time, he made his mark and was soon being acknowledged for the benchmarks of superiority he was setting for other builders to follow. In 2005, he was conferred with an excellence award for a redevelopment project by the Masters Builders Association. Few builders before him have ever achieved this landmark in so short a time.
This phase in Mick’s life was not to last long. A mining boom around this time in Orange, NSW saw builders from all over the country flocking to this town to corner lucrative construction projects. What affected Mick’s company was their inclination to offer rock bottom rates to get contracts at the expense of quality – something that Mick refused to do. Rather than compromise in this respect, he branched out into a completely new and hitherto untapped field in the building sector.
In 2006, Mick founded Green Homes Australia, based on a unique concept of providing energy efficient homes that reduced energy consumption and lowered electricity bills. He deployed exclusive methods that were incorporated in the building plans. These included extensive use of solar energy, passive heating and cooling systems, rain water harvesting and water recycling solutions.
He also built two model homes with these features and invited other builders to benefit from his knowledge through a franchise process. Almost 20 builders answered Mick’s call and through them hundreds of Australian families were benefitted when they built their homes.
Mick Fabar pioneering attempts in the sphere of eco-friendly homes has been recognised through accreditation of the prestigious Best Practice Certification ISO 9001for his company.
